Through Eve Online's ingame menu you can see and join fleets. Fleets are a way for pilots to team up and engage in different activities together.
To learn more about the ingame fleet window (including watchlist etc) and where to find it, please check this Eve University page.
When joining a fleet, especially an PVP fleet, there are a couple of do's and don'ts.
- Be on voice comms for all fleet engagements, this is mandatory. Read how to get on voice comms on this page.
!! Use push-to-talk or manual mute during fleet engagements, disable voice-activated speech !!
- Read the MOTD (Message of the day) in the fleet chat window
The MOTD will contain info about where to form up, who your FC (Fleet commander) and anchors (people you follow at 1 km or orbit at range). It will also tell you the doctrine ships to fly and which comms channel to use.
- Add your anchors to watchlist.
Rightclick the name of your FC and/or anchor and select the ‘Add to watchlist’ option.
- Listen to your FC for commands and follow their lead.
Keep your broadcast window open and look there to verify the commands that are called out. You will see what you need to target, where you need to align to, and that sort of thing.
- Be comms-silent unless told otherwise. This creates a clear fleet environment where everyone can follow what is expected of them.
- Ask questions in fleet chat and wait for the FC or others to answer them.
- Don't be disruptive or disrespectful during fleets in chat or on comms.
This is literally a space game made out of pixels, we all just want to have fun. Sometimes the fleet goes sideways, so be it. There will always be better battles.
Major issues with other pilots can and will be resolved after fleet. If need be you can contact your alliance diplo/leadership for those sorts of cases.
- Don't go rogue and go at it alone.
Stay with the fleet unless otherwise specified/requested.
- Do NOT shoot at things you're not supposed to shoot at.
These are your other fleet members, but also targets not called out by your FC.
I want to take moment to clarify how we prioritize fleets. For APOC, RL will always come first, but some fleets are more important then others and it's important that we all prioritize them accordingly when we are/can be online.
- (Phoenix/APOC) Ops: Low priority, join if you want.
- (Phoenix/APOC) Strat-Op: Medium priority, join if you can/want.
- (Phoenix/APOC) CTA: High priority, if you’re online or can be online make every effort to join.
- (Phoenix/APOC) MAX CTA: High priority, if you’re online, be in this fleet. If you are not online but can be, get online, get in fleet. Obviously RL always comes first.
- HomeDef Fleets: Medium to high priority fleets to help defend our allies. If you can join, you should.
Whenever a fleet is marked as "standby" that means we might have a fleet of that category within a certain timespan, but if hostiles don't form we won't either. Standby pings can be seen as a form of pre-ping, but slightly more serious.
